Recently, based very loosely on an idea that I gleaned from listening to my main man Guy Kawasaki I got to thinking about getting over the startup hump. What does it take to move from wantrepreneur to actual business owner? How hard is it to just start? How hard is it to really get off the ground and get the ball rolling?
Now I will be the first to admit, that I am guilty of being on the wrong side of this question many times before. There have been numerous times in my life when I have been sitting around with friends or day dreaming at lunch time thinking, “Wouldn’t it be cool if”… But I have never followed through with 98% of the ideas that roll through my head.
So I began thinking to myself (while listening to Guy) what does it really take to get one of these ideas started? How much time does it take to really get something from concept to reality? Is it really that long?
I have a feeling that it isn’t as hard as we make it out to be.
So with very little thought as to how I could actually go about this, I decided to challenge myself. I want to see if I can answer the question, Is it possible to start a business in under 24 hours?
Is it possible to take a fleeting idea and put it into practice in a short period of time? How much can I really get accomplished if I really put my mind to it, and get it going? I really began thinking about this quite a lot after that.
So I have decided to give it a try. I am a hard working, responsible human being. I think I can do this.
Over the next week or so, I am going to try and break this down right here for all the world to see. Whether I succeed, or fail miserably I am going to spend as little time as possible in taking an idea and putting it into practice, hopefully landing just under the 24 hour mark. Would anyone like to join me?
PS. Guy, if you are reading this thanks for the idea… now let’s do lunch
